The chimney (triangular in plan) choreographs the Panorama of views as the spiraling procession of public spaces, including the stairs, wrap it. The steep slopes required careful orientation to minimize cut and fill and to optimize drainage, yet subsequently allowed us to hide the house from the eastern street approach and provide a walkout lower storey for double-height panoramics on the south, west, and north.  The terrain inspired an exterior "look" conceived as a series of "ruined" stone walls infilled with floating modern planes. A simple carriage house (not shown) is placed at the opposite end of the site.
